Cozumel

Cozumel, from the Mayan: Kosom lumil 'Golondrina, Landof the swallows', is an island with a vast natural, historical and culturalrichness located in the Mexican Caribbean, the island measures approximately 48km. From north to south and 14.8 km. From east to west, making it the thirdlargest island in Mexico.

Its reef is one of the most famous in the world andextensive with more than 30 km, especially promoted by oceanographer Jean-Jacques Cousteau, who recorded a documentary on underwater life in 1961.

When you arrive at the island you can rent a motorcycle to tour and visit theisland, the town of San Miguel, the Chankanaab Theme Park, the Punta Sur Eco-Beach Park where the Mayan ruins of El Caracol and the Celarain Lighthouse are located,

Among the beaches surrounding the island, at the north end of Cozumel is a small piece of paradise, ideal for couples, known as the Island of Passion or Mukyaj Peten -where Ixchel, goddess of love and fertility, was worshipped inancient times.

Among other festivities and celebrations is the Cozumel Carnival, one of theoldest since 1874 and one of the most important in Mexico.
